I have a number of my pieces in the Vancouver Art Gallery rental program and recently they asked me if I was interested in doing a solo show in the Barrister's lounge at the Law Courts in downtown Vancouver. I agreed and assembled a dozen paintings, including a few new ones (I had a good 6 weeks lead time) and they are now hanging in the Lounge. Unfortunately the lounge is not open to the public but if you are a lawyer you can see them until mid December. Here are a few images .....
I've been painting my 'blocks' for a number of years now but I always like to stay open to evolution in my work. About a month or two ago, when I was doing some exploratory sketching in my workbooks, I came up with something new that felt right. At first glance, they are more like maps than stacks of blocks, but my blocks have slowly been "unfolding" over time so this seems like a natural evolution. They are still blocks, just another variation. Feels good.
